Unknown Turtle Bone?
Description
This bone was excavated from a site in Fishtown, located in North Philadelphia. The site dates to the late 18th and early 19th centuries. This particular piece came from either a privy or a cistern deposit. Our best guess is that it is some sort of turtle bone, perhaps spiny softshell turtle, but we do not have the relevant comparative material in our lab at the Penn Museum. Any help or suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated! There are two other images of different angles of this bone, so please do refer to those as well.
