Say hi to the AAI at the SAAs!
Catch the Alexandria Archive Institute at the 90th annual Society for American Archaeology meeting (aka the SAAs)! If you’ll be attending in Denver, CO April 23-27, we hope you can listen to one of our papers, bring questions to our forum and poster, or stop by our booth to say hi!
The Alexandria Archive Institute and its projects Open Context, the Data Literacy Program, the Digital Index of North American Archaeology (DINAA), and Networking Archaeological Data and Community (NADAC) will be at the SAAs! You can catch staff from each project at booth 205 in the Exhibit Hall located in the Plaza Ballroom, Plaza Building Concourse Level. We’re listed in the Exhibitor Directory under “Digital Index of North American Archaeology (DINAA) – Open Context” on page 273 in the final program.
At the booth, you’ll find information about what the Alexandria Archive Institute (aka the AAI) is working on to advance our mission. You can learn about publishing your data with Open Context from Eric. Find out the latest in their work with FAIR + CARE with Sarah. Check out recent updates to DINAA. Learn the latest about data literacy with Paulina! Or learn how we’ve helped network archaeological data and community through NADAC.
We’ll have QR codes that link to our ongoing work, postcards to take home about our newest projects, as well as other swag like stickers and pens. If you come by early enough, you can get a physical copy of some Digital Data Stories. Otherwise, stop by to sign up and receive the latest information about the work of AAI.

If you’re hoping to catch a specific staff member but can’t find who you’re looking for at the booth, you may need to seek them at one of our sessions. We’ll have a paper, poster, and a forum that each discuss a different aspect of the work that the AAI does.
Friday morning, 8:00 – 9:45 am, 25 April 25 2025
Catch the DLP’s Paulina in the paper session “Educating the Public and Professionals in Archaeology”. There she’ll be presenting the paper “Conclusions from a pilot Archaeological Data Literacy Program”, tracing the arc of the DLP. According to the SAA Final Program, you’ll be able to catch that paper in Tower Building Spruce. Make sure to bring your wake-me-up for this session.

Check out the poster “How to Develop Software-Based Systematic Reviews of Archaeological Research Articles with Information from the Digital Index of North American Archaeology (DINAA)” in the Poster Hall located within the Plaza Ballroom. Occupying poster location 298-h, one of the DINAA project team, either Joshua Wells, Neha Gupta, Eric Kansa, Sarah Whitcher Kansa, or David Anderson, can chat with you about this new work.
Sunday Morning, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, 27 April 2025
Bring your brunch to share with Paulina and Sarah and some of the NADAC scholars in the forum “Networking Archaeological Data and Communities: Reports from the Institute and Future Plans”. Located in the Plaza Building Governor’s Square 12, we’ll discuss the upcoming practice guide and some of the scholars’ key takeaways from participating in this multi-year National Endowment for the Humanities program.
We’ll have these DLP postcards available at the booth. Or you can use the QR codes to check out some Digital Data Stories right now!
Besides those events, we’ll be at the booth to answer questions and hand out materials from most hours that the Exhibit Hall is open. According to the final program, those hours are:
Thursday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
