Governance

Board of Directors

The AAI's Board of Directors consists of individuals who share the Alexandria Archive Institute’s vision and have personal qualifications to lead the organization to success. Board members evaluate the AAI's performance in working toward its mission and enable progress towards growth. In 2009, the AAI formed an Honorary Board of Directors to recognize individuals who have provided continued support and services to our organization.

Elizabeth Carter is Professor Emerita in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures, University of California at Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA.

 

Charles Duba is Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Strategic Initiatives; Professor of Physics, Computer Science, and Electrical & Computer Engineering at DigiPen Institute of Technology, Redmond, WA.

 

Eric Kansa is Technology Director (AAI) & Open Context Program Director, San Francisco, CA. His research explores Web architecture, service design, and how these issues relate to the social and professional context of the digital humanities. Eric also researches policy issues relating to intellectual property, including text-mining and cultural property concerns. He co-founded the AAI in 2001 with Sarah Whitcher Kansa.

Charles E. Jones is Tombros Librarian for Classics and Humanities, George and Sherry Middlemas Arts and Humanities Library at The Pennsylvania State University

 

John G. Kutz, a founding board member of the AAI, is a management consultant based in San Francisco, CA. 

 

 

Brenda LeMay has more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry globally. Her focus has been on the development of large scale wind and solar including negotiating commercial transactions, permitting, structuring policy, finance, and management.

 

Bryan J. Stone is a Principal at Amazon Web Services where he works with global banks to drive business and technology transformation. He has expertise in strategy, analytics, digitalization, and financial business management. Bryan has been on the board of Alexandria Archive since its inception and currently serves as its Treasurer. He has a BA and MA in Near Eastern Archaeology and Anthropology from Harvard University and an MBA from UCLA/Anderson.

Christine Szuter served as President & CEO of the Amerind Foundation in Dragoon, Arizona, an Indigenous museum, art gallery, and research center. Before arriving at Amerind, Christine was director of the graduate Scholarly Publishing Certificate program at Arizona State University where her work focused on publishing, digital humanities, and nonprofit management. She spent more than a decade as Director, Editor-in-Chief, and Acquiring Editor at the University of Arizona Press publishing 55-60 books annually in anthropology, archaeology, geography, environmental studies, Southwest studies, and space sciences.

John P. Whitcher, a founding board member of the AAI, is Professor Emeritus of Clinical Ophthalmology, Epidemiology, and Biostatistics at the Proctor Eye Research Foundation, the University of California, San Francisco.
