The Alexandria Archive Institute is a non-profit technology company that preserves and shares world heritage on the Web, free of charge. Through advocacy, education, research, and technology programs like Open Context, we pioneer ways to open up archaeology and related fields for all.

WHAT WE DO:
OPEN TECHNOLOGIES, ADVOCACY, RESEARCH & EDUCATION
The AAI supports a range of projects that work toward our mission of enhancing scholarship through use of the Open Web. The primary focus of our work is Open Context, an open access, Web-based publication system for archaeology and other field sciences. Learn more about Open Context
In addition to Open Context, we actively contribute to several other collaborative initiatives, which are funded primarily by government and private foundation grants. Learn more about our other projects
IMPACTS
Twenty-first century research must make data sharing a regular part of scholarly life. Data sharing improves transparency, reduces duplication of effort, and opens new horizons for both public participation and large scale multidisciplinary inquiry. Our work is targeted at promoting greater breadth and depth of understanding through sharing the richly documented primary data collected by researchers in an accessible online format. Learn more
COMMUNITY
The Alexandria Archive Institute's projects thrive in a growing ecosystem of Open Web initiatives aimed at promoting research and instruction. Our projects contribute to the vibrancy and growth of that ecosystem. We actively work to promote participation by students, researchers, and the public in building more open and inclusive approaches to understanding our origins and historical achievements. Learn more
