This is a collage photo meant to illustrate/give an image for some of the folks quoted in this article. There is a woman with grey hair on the right with her thumb pointing at the banner in the middle indicating the conference that all the people were attending. There is a man with grey hair and glasses gesturing at a keyboard above that logo. A person with long brown hair and arms wide gesturing at the logo below them. And a man on the far right side right next to a stopwatch who has short brown hair and glasses.

Recap of the AAI at the SAAs

June 5, 2025 by Paulina Przystupa

Did you miss us at the 2025 Society for American Archaeology meeting (SAAs) in Denver? No worries! In this article, we recap all the cool things that the Alexandria Archive Institute (AAI), Open Context, and the Digital Index of North American Archaeology (DINAA) got up to at our booth and around the meetings.

This is a screen capture of the Table of Contents within the Spring 2025 Reference Guide. It is organized with the major subjects of the guide on the left with their corresponding umber on the far right. Major sections are in black with more specific Data Story or Data Story shorts in blue. It lists two series (Tutorial and Aggregative) and the five data stories in those two series.

The Spring 2025 Reference Guide

We’re happy to announce the Data Literacy Program’s (DLP’s) Spring 2025 Reference Guide. Formerly known as the Table of Contents, this Version 3.0 of that document provides short introductions for all our Digital Data Stories.

This is a decorative image advertising that the Alexandria Archive Institute will be at the Society for American Archaeology meetings in Denver CO. It includes the dates of the conference 23-27 April 2025 and then has the logo for the meeting as well as for all the Alexandria archive Institute Projects that will be there. That includes Open Context, FAIR + Care Cultural Heritage Network, NADAC (Networking Archaeological data and communities), DINAA (Digital Index of North American Archaeology), and the Data Literacy Program.

Catch the Alexandria Archive Institute at the 90th annual Society for American Archaeology meeting (aka the SAAs)! If you’ll be attending in Denver, CO April 23-27, we hope you can listen to one of our papers, bring questions to our forum and poster, or stop by our booth to say hi!

A book outlined like a constellation or a neural network with the book on the right hand side. The lins re in a light blue and the background is a black to indigo gradient from black to dark blue/indigo at the top. This is an adaptation of an Adobe Stock image. It is a mirrored version of the Digital Data Stories or Data Literacy Program logo. On the right hand side it reds "Data Story Shorts" in white and below that it reads "A Data Literacy Series". This is "Data Story Shorts Logo" made in 2025 by Paulina F. Przystupa CC BY from the Data Literacy Program (DLP).

Introducing Data Story Shorts

January 24, 2025 by Paulina Przystupa

We’re proud to introduce a new series of open educational resources (OERs) from the Data Literacy Program (DLP) of the Alexandria Archive Institute (AAI). These are our Data Story Shorts. The Shorts are smaller, bite-sized Data Stories about specific topics, skills, or data. In this article, we’ll explain some of the differences between our Shorts […]

Act 16: The story of data stories

January 9, 2025 by Paulina Przystupa

The Data Literacy Program (DLP) section of the Alexandria Archive Institute (AAI) had a smooth, though very busy, end to 2024. We reused and reposted existing materials to coincide with our annual inspiration month prompts, published another Data Story, and wrote the story of our Data Stories.
